Służewiec is one of the largest and most beautiful racing tracks in the world and horse racing has a long tradition in the capital. The racing season begins in the spring and runs until the late autumn.  This 138-hectare enclave of green in the heart of the city is an attractive place to spend some family time in the fresh air.  Horse racing has a long tradition in the capital, going back to 1777. It was then that the first horse race took place, right in the centre of the city, along Marszałkowska Street, while the first proper horse racing track was designed on the Mokotowskie Fields (Pole Mokotowskie). Finally, the large, main race track was designed at Służewiec, with its official opening taking place in 1939.
